When researching photographers, it’s normal to have a lot of questions. After all, choosing the right photographer is a big decision. To help you get started, I’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions that will give you insight into my photography experience, style, and process. How long have you been a photographer? How did you get into it?
My journey as a wedding photographer began in the summer of 2005 when I photographed my first wedding for a cousin at a sweet and elegant private estate around romantic Boston, MA. They needed someone to document their day, and I jumped at the chance to expand my skills beyond portraits and lifestyle photography. What I discovered was a deep love for capturing the genuine joy and intimate moments between couples and their families. Over the years, my passion grew into a business, and I have now photographed infants, seniors, families, weddings & elopements for over 20 years! I have evolved into specializing in Personal Brand and Product Photography! I love capturing special moments—but also the passion behind a small business not unlike my own… as they venture to make this world a better place with their services and products!
What services do you offer?
I would now say I specialize in branding packages for personal brand and product photography. I offer a comprehensive list of photography, both lifestyle and white-background listing images, video broll, infographics, banners, reels and more! I also offer an extensive list of portrait photography services for weddings, elopements, engagement sessions, couple portraits, family, newborn, maternity, seniors and more. All sessions are held at the
location of your choice, mostly close to Grantsville, and Deep Creek Lake, Maryland. My photography focuses on using natural outdoor lighting rather than indoor studio setups. But my brand photography does utilize my in-home studio. I’ve never had my photo taken—what do I do with my hands?!
It’s completely normal to feel a little awkward in front of the camera, and I even feel that way sometimes! You don’t need professional modeling experience to have great photos. I prefer not to focus on stiff posing but instead encourage natural, relaxed movements. Whether it’s holding hands, hugging, dancing, or even twirling, I’ll help guide you into positions that feel comfortable and look great. My goal is for you to have fun and feel natural, while capturing genuine, beautiful moments.
How would you describe your photography style?
I would describe my style as authentic and candid, with light guidance for portraits and group photos. I focus on capturing the true moments of the day without being intrusive or overwhelming you with constant posing. My goal is for you to be able to enjoy your photoshoot without worrying about the posing of your images. My editing style typically embraces bright, golden hues and good contrast to make colors pop and add warmth. What if there’s inclement weather for our scheduled session?
Weather can be unpredictable, especially in Garrett County, MD, but I always encourage families to have a backup date or plan just in case. If it rains, I like to reschedule typically but if we can’t reschedule I will do my best to bring an umbrella and celebrate the romantic misty weather. Don’t worry if the weather doesn’t cooperate—sometimes, the unexpected moments are the most memorable!
How long is the turnaround time for our gallery?
Typically, the standard turnaround time for branding/family photos is 30 days, and for wedding galleries is 90 days. However, depending on the time of year, it may be a bit sooner. I also provide sneak peeks for most wedding packages, so you’ll get a few images to share with family and friends usually before you are home from your honeymoon!
Do you provide the original unedited RAW image files?
I do not provide RAW, unedited image files. I believe in delivering a finished product that’s polished and reflects my style. I always edit my photos to enhance lighting, contrast, and color to ensure that each image is beautifully presented.
Do you watermark your photos?
No, I don’t watermark my photos. I want you to have the best possible experience with your images and believe in delivering them in their purest form, without any distractions. I do appreciate any social photography credits when possible. Tagging me on Facebook and Instagram is greatly appreciated! Word of mouth referrals are the bread and butter of my business!
Will I have full ownership of the photos?
Yes, once your photos are delivered, you have full printing rights to them and can do whatever you like. However, I do ask for credit by name when possible if my images are used for public purposes. I understand, however, that commercial photography does not always allow for photo credit in every instance.
How will the photos be delivered?
Your photos will be delivered via email with a link to your online gallery. From there, you can download your images, share the link with friends and family, post to social media, and order prints.
Should I opt-in for a second shooter?
A second shooter is not necessary but can be a great addition to a package, especially for capturing different angles and important moments. If you want images of both the bride walking down the aisle and the groom’s reaction, or need coverage of the getting-ready moments when you and your partner are in separate locations, a second shooter is invaluable. I also typically offer the option to simply hire a second shooter for a shorter portion of your wedding day. This is a great option that can help you stay on budget without sacrificing the additional images you want to be included in your album.
What are your travel fees?
Travel fees are included in all my packages unless your event is over an hour from my home base, that way there are no additional costs. For more accurate estimates for your wedding location, feel free to contact me directly!
Do you offer engagement sessions?
Yes, I offer engagement sessions, and I highly recommend them! It’s a wonderful opportunity for you and your partner to get comfortable in front of the camera and for me to get to know you better. We can choose a location that’s meaningful to you, like a favorite park, coffee shop, or even a mountaintop. Reach out for more details!
How do I book my contract?
To start the booking process, fill out the contact form with details about your brand/family/wedding and what you’re looking for. I’ll follow up to provide you with wedding package options and schedule a time to chat. If you’d like to move forward, I’ll send over a wedding agreement and a retainer to officially secure your date.
